IF your favourite music is gone from the usual worship service;
No more drums,
no more electric guitars,
no more cool singers/worship leaders,
no more contemporary Christian songs,
without even the oh-so-boring hymns,
or choir,
or piano or organ
or even at the minimum. A simple nylon-string guitar.
Just plain human voices.
Will you still go to church?
IF your favourite speakers/pastors leave;
No more cool sermons,
no more funny jokes,
no more interesting videos or any sorts to capture your attention,
only a boring pastor who reads from the Bible,
and you see the same person every week.
Will you still go to church?
IF your church is threatened to be demolished in a day;
No more 1,000 seating Chapel,
no more air-conditioned classrooms,
no more playground,
no more basketball court,
no more jamming music rooms,
no more nice, big toilets,
no more facilities,
no nothing.
Only a piece of barren land,
or maybe, someone's nice enough to rent you a small shophouse for you to hold your services in, when you're sourcing all around to get money to rebuild the church.
Will you still go to church?
Will you still go to the same old church,
be the one who is faithful to his/her roots;
or will you go church hopping,
go around and attend other churches. Mega churches which can offer what your same old church can't?
Then when the mega churches suffer the same fate, you run away, and go to some other church?
...
The people in Balai had really taught me, a lot.
To those who think of leaving for the greater, reconsider.
To those who are enjoying the greater, rethink. Start wondering whether you're becoming a Christian, because of the music, or the sermons, or the clubhouse-like facilities, or the fun, or the socialising, or is it because that you really, believe in Him and want to know Him better.
After all, as the Wise says, "get your priorities right".
God bless people. Congrats to those who got their O's done and over with, I completed mine exactly a year ago. :D
